現在時間還早,先讓我來介紹下天柱山的大致概況吧!天柱山在長江北岸、安徽省潛山境內,因其高聳挺立，如巨柱擎天而得名。天柱山過去還有潛山、皖山、萬歲山稱。據說，稱萬歲山是因漢武帝南巡時，親臨皖山設台祭岳，敕封皖山為“南嶽”，在祭岳時，人群高呼萬歲，所以將此山稱為萬歲山。隋唐以後，南嶽改為衡山，天柱山被列為國內五大鎮山之“中鎮”。唐代大詩人李白曾寫了一著讚美天柱山風景奇秀的詩“江上望皖公山”，皖公山即天柱山，詩云：“奇峰山奇雲，秀木含秀氣。清晏皖公山，絕稱人意......”
車過旌駕橋，我們就進入了天柱山的南哨——三祖寺景區.三祖寺景區是天柱山人文景點最集中、文化品位最高的一個文化精品景區。我們將在這裡感受到天柱山神秘的宗教文化和帝王文化，觀賞到具有歷代書法藝術長廊之稱的國家重點文保單位摩崖石刻群。
(進入其南大門野人寨上行不遠就到達三祖寺。這是天柱山最著名的景點。相傳，寺始建於南朝，現僅存藏經樓、偏房數間和屹立於寺前的覺寂塔。三祖寺西，有大石累累的山谷，谷側陡岩直立，谷中流水潺潺，松竹遮天蔽日，稱之為“山谷流泉”。山谷門有一石洞，石洞前有一巨石狀如臥牛，稱“石牛古洞”。相傳，北宋人黃庭堅曾坐此石上讀書，並自號“山谷道人”。在這裡的一塊巨石上刻有黃庭堅的詩和同時代大畫家李公麟所繪的黃庭堅坐於石牛上的畫像。這件珍貴的古代詩畫刻石，現仍清晰可見。)

大家知道安徽省的簡稱是“皖”，皖有著怎樣的來歷呢?皖在古書上與皓通用，是明亮而美好的意思，我們天柱山地區自古以來山清水秀好風光，這樣美麗的地方，周天子封了一個名副其實的名稱叫皖國，因安慶市內有座皖公山，又有皖河繞流其間，在抗日戰爭爆發之前，安慶就一直是安徽省省會，安徽就是安慶和徽州的總稱，所以安徽簡稱皖就來源於此。我們登上天柱山以後，可以一睹渾然天成，惟妙惟肖的“皖公神像”，他可是安徽的老祖宗喔!大家拭目以待吧!
山高水長，景美幽靜是潛山縣生態環境的寫照。這裡的水質和空氣品質都是一流的，遊客朋友們，到了潛山，就到了綠色植物庫，天然大氧吧。我們從縣城進入天柱山的這一段稱為天柱大道。橫跨天柱大道，矗立著一座高大的門樓建築，這就是天柱山標誌性大門。看這六個大字“古南嶽天柱山”，他是誰題寫的呢?是已故中國佛教協會會長趙朴初先生題寫的。
大家知道天柱山為何又稱古南嶽嗎?漢元豐五年，漢武帝劉徹南巡登臨天柱山，同行的司馬遷在《史記》中記載了漢武帝這次南巡活動：登禮潛之天柱山，號曰南嶽。到公元589年，隋文帝為開拓南疆，改封湖南衡山為南嶽，從此天柱山以古南嶽之名傳至後世。

它的右側有一塊石碑，石碑上注有簡介。原來這裡便是有名的"天柱第一泉"，怪不得在瓷壁上有好幾個水龍頭呢!水龍頭裡流出清泉，手一捧，清涼的感覺沁入了心間，清泉帶著許些岩石和青草的清香，喝一口，那種透心涼的感覺真的舒服極了.第一泉位於兩峰的夾谷之間，兩峰雜草甚多，多得叫不名兒了，它們綠得剎是可愛.順著小道橫穿山坡，草逐漸變少，而坡上卻未褪去那一層綠.因為西瓜代替了它，大大小小的瓜在葉子下探出一個個腦袋，像天真的孩童在玩捉迷藏;像不經世事的小姑娘睜眼望著外面的世界;像一個飽經人事的老者在呼吸清新的空氣，張望著寧靜的山河……翻了一座山，眼前又是一片綠，黃綠的嫩草布滿了整個坡，密密麻麻的墨綠，給人一種密不透風的感覺，走近一看，不由得嚇了一跳，原來以為只有人表里不一，沒想到著松樹也表里不一.外面看起來密不透風，其實裡面空蕩蕩的.枝幹非常少，只有樹尖的幾米處有幾根枝椏而已，其下側是筆直的主幹，健壯挺拔。
