天幕城是青島市北區新建設打造的一條特色街，也是目前我市乃至全省唯一集旅遊、餐飲、娛樂、休閒等多種功能於一體的室內步行商業街。天幕城位於原青島絲織廠與青島印染廠廠區內，與壽光路平行，毗鄰台東商貿區、遼寧路兩大商圈，貫通青島啤酒街、文化街、婚紗街三大街區，區位優越，交通便捷。天幕城總長度約460米，總建築面積10萬平方米，總營業面積7萬平方米，天幕面積8900平方米。
天幕城創造性地把膠澳總督府、亨利王子飯店、青島市民大禮堂、膠澳帝國法院、青島花石樓、大港火車站等20多處具有代表性的老建築做成微縮景觀濃縮於此，形成了一道獨特的萬國建築風景線。另外，市北區還有目的的展示了一些現代的著名建築，實現了古典藝術與現代時尚的和諧共鳴，充分展現了東西方古今建築文化的濃厚藝術神韻。
建築細節上，天幕城每一處景觀的設定都有其良好的人文背景，努力實現東方與西方，傳統與現代的文化共融。主入口處的浴女噴泉展示的是西方雕塑藝術，但材質卻使用了中國雕塑常用的漢白玉，輔助噴泉，射燈，使東西方的雕塑藝術，水光電等手法在這裡和諧共存，互動輝映。以美食為主題，在壽光路與登州路交叉口設標誌性雕塑“舉箸”，象徵中國傳統的飲食文化。對壽光路街道進行了特色美化、亮化，道路鋪設紅色瀝青，對建築立面進行了專業處理，緊扣島城濱海特色，讓海星、海螺隨著流動的曲線圖案，躍然於牆上，生動活潑的造型使建築煥發出新的光彩。為了增加天幕城的自然氣息，市北區還專門設定了榕樹景觀。
天幕城最大的建築特點和藝術特點就是天幕、水幕和天幕電影。天幕城設計理念獨特，化自然景觀為人文景觀，以人文景觀展現自然景觀，率先採用國際上先進的“天幕”設計手法，利用聲光電等不同技術手段，在室內空間營造藍天白雲、璀璨星空等室外感覺，以“天幕下的漫步”為特徵，營造“旭日東升”、“正午陽光”、“夕陽晚霞”、“午夜星辰”四種壯麗的自然景觀，變幻時空，給人以震撼、新奇的視覺享受。
天幕城頂部設有網球場等體育健身設施，5000平方米的演出場已與巴西著名演藝公司達成意向。天幕城入口以歐式城堡為起點，將人帶入神秘的古代和現代、白晝與黑夜的交錯空間。在入口內側，設定了視覺衝擊強烈，面積達800餘平方米的水幕牆，下部為400平方米水幕台階，形成晶瑩剔透的簾幕。天幕水幕交相輝映，令人流連忘返，襯托出天幕城獨有的商業魅力和藝術品位。
現在，青島天幕城，已成為島城人品嘗天下美食，集餐飲、休閒、娛樂、商業氣息、人文氛圍、藝術創作為一體的旅遊觀光景點。
