天華山雄奇的是兩座對峙而高高聳立的險峰氣勢，玄妙的是怪石林立懸空、岩洞幽深。峭壁高峰之上的奇景，凡人無法飛入景內，只能遙遙仰視奇觀，對面營盤山險峰之上，突出矗立的幾尊巨石，仿佛傳說諸葛亮還在和伴隨的趙子龍觀察南滇動靜，也仿佛神話修煉成仙的道人飛騰而上，在絕壁頂上等侯南天門的洞開。天華山自身的險峰懸崖峭壁上，一條同上而下，首尾鱗爪宛然如生、知數丈粗抱余的石龍，仿佛烏龍由天而降，沖向峽谷。明代詩人劉善賦游來感動，寫下七言絕句遊仙詩：“巨靈突兀顯示奇蹤，絕壁千尋倒掛龍;莫謂石頑無雨降，須知洞古有雲從。”這條石龍，在古代早期展示洞天福地的道教仙境裡，被賦予了濃郁的神氣仙風。說它是服從諸葛亮調動、破了孟獲山猿野豹豺狼怪陣的黑龍。說它戰爭勝利後在回歸龍潭之時化作石龍倒掛天華山，永遠點滴玉液瓊漿。險峰上下的奇石古洞和雲臥仙床，是吸引逸人幽客、方外羽流的玄妙體系。對峙的營盤山上，那有名的'如珠奇石，在諸葛寨里夜來有光，與天華山倒掛石龍引發了眾多遊仙詩的出現：“……對峙山藏珠煥彩，石龍探取繁岩巔。”“妙境天華古洞仙，古珠夜明照南滇……”“……龍飛倒掛珠明夜，玉滴高懸石化融……”“龍蟠險嶺明珠現，玉滴懸岩妙藥金……”這些詩中的句子，形容很有代表性。
