牧師宣布婚姻的意義是在於在上帝面前的聖約（the holy convenant in the presence of god），並先後依次問:
will you love her/him, comfort her/him, honor and keep her/him,
in sickness and in health;
and forsaking all others keep only to her/him
so long as you both shall live?
是否愛她／他，安慰她／他，榮耀保守她／他，
無論疾病還是健康；
並只守候在她／他身旁，不再尋找別人
只要一息尚存？
依次回答 i will （i do）後，就彼此宣誓:
i, (name), take you, (name), 我，（名字），願以你，（名字），
to be my wedded wife/husband, 作我婚姻的妻子／丈夫，
to have and to hold, 相互擁有扶持，
from this day forward, 而今而後，
for better, for worse, 不論境遇好壞，
for richer, for poorer, 家境貧富，
in sickness and in health,生病與否，
to love and to cherish, 誓言相親相愛，
till death us do part, 至死不分離。
according to god\’s holy ordinance; 正如上帝之神聖命定；
and there to i pledge you my faith. 此我以信為誓
然後交換“那內在而屬靈恩典的外在而可見之記號”
（the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual
grace）的戒指。接下來是點同心蠟燭，象徵二人成為一體，一個家
庭。點完同心蠟燭以後，牧師“奉父子聖靈的名”（in the name of
the father, and of the son, and of the holy spirit）宣布成為夫妻。儀式最後以祝福和主禱文結束。
