1.租房場景
這種題型，以前看人也介紹過，並且很詳細，這裡把他們總結在一起。
首先辨別是租房還是買房。for lease, for rent 出租與for sale 出賣
房子的類型有：公寓flat, apartment, 學生宿舍dormitory (dorm) , 學生旅店student hostel, 青年旅店youth hostel ，還有一種叫留宿當地居民家裡homestay.
一般房子有的家電或設施有：
爐子stove, 冰櫃fridge, 微波爐microwave oven, 洗衣機washing machine, 空調air-conditioner, 電風扇electric fan, 冷卻器電暖爐radiator, 電爐electric stoves ，
床上用品及其他物品有：
枕頭pillow, 枕套和被單pillow case and bed linen, 被單被褥 sheet, 床墊mattress, 毯子blanket, towel手巾毛巾， 窗簾curtain，地毯carpet
房子位置：road(rd.), street(st.), lane小路\巷, avenue 大道
門廳的叫法：hall, lobby, porch 陽台balcony，睡房bedroom, 廚房kitchen,
租房的規律為：
離市中心越近，房價越高，位置稍偏，價錢會比較有吸引力;但便宜的房子一般有不理想的地方：
not near the center, not near the railway station, far from the bus stop, near the airport, noisy, shared kitchen, insects, a stranger in the next bed, have no privacy, have to prepare some repellant令人厭煩 ,insects haunting. 鬧昆蟲
電話詢問看房子常用語：
is it available now? when will it be available?.
is there a telephone? how far is it from…….? is it furnished?
what is the rental price? how is it cooled /heated?
furnished：意為配備了家具。
2.課外研究場景.
主要是在課外研究一些小的項目，小的調查研究，包括對學校里各個地方，食品(咖啡，小吃)等的價格的比較，這些看似不屑一顧的東西，個人認為，這也是與文化背景有關係的，外國人注重人的實踐能力，從小培訓。聽時特別關注的是人名，並注意先判斷男女，以及各自的觀點。
素食者vegetarian，餡餅pie，布丁果凍pudding，湯soup，
咖啡coffee, 炸魚和土豆片fish and chips, 油膩的greasy
有時候讓受訪者談論value for money, 看值不值得花這個錢，又或者談論某計畫應否開展。
