正如雷鋒所言："我是祖國的，祖國是我的。"因此，把個人的命運與祖國的命運直接聯繫起來，把自已的人格與祖國的國格直接聯繫起來，這正是愛國主義真諦之所在。每當奧運會頒獎儀式上五星紅旗高高升起，中國的國歌通過現場直播響徹整個世界的時候，不但獲得世界冠軍的中國運動員在為自己的祖國母親而感到驕傲和自豪，而且，與此同時，祖國母親也在為自已有這樣優秀兒女而感到驕傲和自豪！——生為祖國母親爭氣，死為祖國母親爭光，這才是一個愛國主義者的人生價值和人生意義之所在。
打開中華民族五千年的文明史冊，每一頁無不閃爍著愛國主義的燦爛光輝。中華民族的愛國志士，不畏強權壓迫，不畏虎豹柴狼，為了國家的獨立和昌盛，為了民族的自由，為了人民的幸福，譜寫了一曲曲響徹雲霄的愛國主義壯歌，愛國主義是一個民族強大的精神支柱，是不可戰勝的偉大力量！
在歷史長河中，英雄事跡，層出不窮；愛國人物，群星燦爛。戰國時期的偉大愛國詩人屈原，宋代的民族英雄岳飛、文天祥，明代的愛國將領戚繼光，焚燒鴉片的抗英將領林則徐，他們忠於祖國、熱愛人民，不畏貶謫，不怕犧牲，忠烈千秋，永垂千史，這正是愛國主義力量的集中表現。
