Living in the moment
Traveling is kind of like being in love. Except instead of being intimatewith another person, you become intimate with a place. Those moments of pleasurewhen the sun hits your face and you look out onto a foreign countryside, orarrive at a new train depot in a bustle of taxis and hawkers—those are themoments you, or at least I, remember, and live for, again and again.

Plan for the unexpected
An itinerary can be helpful, but you won’t be able to plan everything downto the smallest detail. How could you possibly have known about that littlerestaurant at the back of that alley before you arrived, or that friendly localwho invited who into his house to hear him play thesanturi? Often, the bestparts of a trip are a result of an adventure.

The best things can come from the worst experiences
Once, when I was in Sicily, I was swindled by a stranger for a hundreddollars. At first I was devastated. I spent the entire next day thinking aboutwhat I should have done to keep my money, and what I would do if I had it. Butwhat I learned from this about humanity, about the nature of good and evilwithin people, and how circumstances force them to do bad things showed me a lotabout myself and how to cope with misfortune.

when holiday comes, thousands of people pour into the tourist sites, theywant to relax themselves and enjoy the beautiful scenery. but chinese peoplehave a bad habit, they like to leave some notes on the site, proving them havebeen here before. such a behavior has been criticized by the public, because theleaving note will damage the preservation of the tourist site. most of thetourist sites are part of our country’s historical relics, these sites arepriceless, it is everyone’s duty to protect the sites. when we go to travel, weshould behave ourselves. first, we need to have the idea that no rubbish beingleaved behind when we leave the site. we should take away what we bring, keepthe environment clean. second, no any notes being written in the sites. thoughin the old days, chinese workers like to leave their names on the sites, but nowit is a new world, we need to behave ourselves.
