My name is Tiffany, a Year 2 student from the University of Macau. I am currently an active member of the university Public Speaking Team, president of the Honours College Student Association, and also the vice president of the event department in Marketing Society. I am very active and outgoing. I enjoy being with people, engaged in conversations with them so that I can understand them more. I like public speaking as it can help increase my self-esteem and self-confidence. Aside from public speaking, I am also good at English recitation. I have joined the Macao-wide English Individual Recitation for a number of times when I was studying in the secondary school.
Imagine a car without a steering wheel. Tough to imagine, right? Well, actually that’s the image you see if a person has no faith. Faith helps to guide us in our lives, encourage us to persist, and give directions when we are lost.
In this peaceful era, our life paths seem to be already well-planned and determined. What we have to do is to follow. Yes, we may face different sorts of challenges, but at least they are less harsh when compared to those in the past. We do not need to worry about starving to death, or how to earn enough money to buy food for our siblings and sustain our lives.
It is like driving from a muddy road into a highway. In the muddy road, path, you would say, as it is formed only by crossing on it many times, flattening the ground to form a smoother area so we can pass. The road is so bumpy and rough, with holes here and there and rocks lying all over. When we drive along this road, we have to be very careful, having a firm grip on the steering wheel, ready for a sudden turn or a large boulder that may appear any second. However, when we drive on a highway, everything becomes different. The road is smooth, straight, and visible. Since there is no unseen obstacle, we may lower our guard, relax a bit, and loosen our grip on the steering wheel. One may even think, if we only have to drive on a smooth straight road like this highway, why would we need a steering wheel?
Faith is unique, just as happiness is. We feel happy for different reasons, we believe for different things. How can we know what we believe in? Recall the last time you are discouraged, and you felt you had lost all hopes in your life. What pulled you back into the world? What pushed you to stand up and continue to strive again? That is your faith, your belief. Faith is what makes you feel you can when others say you can’t.

Once I changed my attitude toward everything, I recognized my world, my future and myself. It happened when my friends and I had almost finished our last academic year and were invited by our lovely and friend like teachers to an amazing trip, to Issyk-Kul, the pearl of Kyrgyz land. About five of my best friends and I were going to the breathtaking places of our motherland where we decided to have an unforgettable days of our life.
In evening, we were usually watching comedy films and films about the battles. But on another day we decided to have a party, so we went to a local disco named as Discovery. And the life would be more interesting that night if I didn’t quarrel with my best friend. We started arguing only for our own interests; he insisted on drinking some alcohol and dance, I insisted on not doing that because it would bring big problems and moreover it would be shame on ourselves. Unfortunately, all my friends were against me, because they thought that we could afford drinking alcohol considering that we were about to finish our school. That night I lost all my best friends just in a moment. All my thoughts about friendship were ruined; my heart burst into small pieces that will never be joined any more. And from that moment I started to build everything in my life from zero. I became more serious with my attitude toward people and became more careful myself as well.

As I grow up I gradually come to understand her words and realize doctors are noble. I made up my mind to be a doctor when I was in junior school and this has never changed since then.
I really hope to see a world where there is no cancer no Aids no fatal disease no one suffering from illness. But this is only a fantasy. What about the reality? There are still many many people who are faced with disastrous disease and suffering from constant pain. There are still many many people living in miserable condition and live miserably. There are still many many people dying of cancer and leaving the beautiful world reluctantly. All those things make me feel sad because I think everyone has the right to live . I want to help the sick and reduce their pain as much as I can. I want to bring a healthy body to the patients and save their lives as many as I can. I want to see people cured living happily with their families and friends after my treatment. So I want to be a doctor an angel in white.
When I become a doctor I will cherish each life regardless of the races sexes ages positions and occupations. I will do every bit to cure the incurable.

我的發言分四個部分:匯報班級情況，交流三個問題，幾點溫馨提示。
一、首先,跟大家匯報一下班級學生現狀
1. 班級學生現狀
我們班總共 名學生，上周我校進行了半期考試。我把半期英語考試的情況簡單向各位家長作個匯報。平均分 分，優生 人，優生率 %。排名前十名的有 ;與九月份第一次月考相比，進步較大的學生有 。 通過國中半期的學習，大多數學生都具有良好的英語學習習慣。學習積極性較高，能夠自覺完成老師布臵的作業，深知英語學科在整個國中課程的重要性。
2.存在問題:
1)早讀課容易瞌睡，每天晚上加夜班的同學比較多，導致早上精神狀態不好。
2)部分學生的學習方式仍然停留在國中甚至國小階段，從不自覺主動地去學習(從他們對作業的認識和處理方式上就可以看出來)
3)部分學生抄襲作業，少數學生作業拖拉甚至不交作業

二、其次，想跟大家交流四個問題
1.首先和大家交流一個問題：孩子上了國中以後，總有一部分家長很納悶：我家的孩子在國小能考到八九十分，國中也能考到七八十分，為什麼到了國中，成績不令人滿意，甚至有些失望呢?
這個問題的答案首先與各個學習階段的特點有關：國小階段以賞識教育為主，要在很小的時候培養學生的自信心，試卷內容大多與課本有關，因此考試分數自然會很高。國中則是以普及教育為主，考試會照顧到大部分學生，因此分數也較高。但是，國中教育，特別是在以高考為最終目標的大背景下，就是以選拔為目的了，所以，考試難度與深度會有很大的提升，得分率自然就會下降，孩子們的考試分數自然會低一些。所以拿國中甚至國小的分數來衡量孩子們國中的學習，是不科學的。
其次，與學生自身的學習方式和學習習慣有關：國中階段學習科目多而且難，要求學生必須學會自主學習(自覺主動地去學習)，即變“要我學”為“我要學”，再也不能像國中甚至國小那樣靠老師和家長盯著學，那樣成績自然會下降。
2.第二個問題，為什麼同一個班級的孩子三年後成績差別那么大?成績進步大的一定是那些學習習慣和個性好的孩子。孩子為什麼會這樣，其實因素很多，這不僅僅與學習基礎有關，最主要的是與孩子的心態、學習方式及學習習慣密切相關。學生的學習方式及習慣是極其重要的，直接影響和決定學生的成績。不要到初三時才感慨，現在我們不是不想學，而是在初一、初二時沒有養成良好的學習習慣，沒能改變自己的學習方式以適應國中的學習，現在只能是心有餘而力不足。因此，現在必須努力學習。
在此，我希望家長們要時時關注孩子的學習習慣和個性，也就是情商問題。大量的實例證明了一個人的成功主要取決於情商，其次才是智商，兩者的比例大概是7:3。既然知道英語學科舉足輕重，就必須愛英語，以十足的幹勁學好英語。
3.第二個問題，請家長們正確看待孩子在班級的考試名次，當孩子名次退步時，原因是多方面的，首先幫助他樹立信心，然後一起幫助分析原因，而不要盲目地批評甚至打罵孩子。“望子成龍，望女成鳳”是我們共同的心愿，但在初一更應注重孩子學習習慣的培養、學習方式的轉變，讓孩子快樂的成長進步，嚴格遵循教育教學規律。
4.有些孩子還沒有適應國中的學習，還不知道國中階段怎么學，希望家長們高度關注。國中學習科目多而難，時間緊，主要靠學生自主和自覺地學習，老師主要是引導和輔導、檢查和督促，而不像國中那樣盯著你學習。說明學生在學習目的、學習興趣上還需培養。
訂正的習慣，督促學生建立錯題集，當堂發現的問題，當堂訂正，不拖拉，不滯留，將問題解決在發現之處，從而保證知識點的連線，為建立學科知識體系做保障。這些習慣，會讓學生真正的樂學、好學，在成功中追求快樂，在快樂中追求成功!
四、我想對在座的各位家長提出幾點溫馨提示。

(1)幫助孩子確定適當目標
和孩子一起確定一個他能夠達到的目標——家長適度的期望值。
孩子是家長的希望，教育好孩子是老師的希望。父母對孩子期望值的高低直接影響孩子將來所取得成就的大小。期望值一定要有，而且要恰到好處。
期望值過高：孩子拚命按家長的意願生活、學習，也許父母感到滿足，但孩子生活得較為壓抑，甚至影響心理健康。盡力後仍達不到家長的要求，雙方均失望，可能導致孩子自暴自棄;
期望值過低或沒有：家長對尚不自覺的孩子期望值過低或沒有，孩子會缺少外在精神支持，認為不重視、無所謂。
適度的期望值：在原有基礎上適當拔高，不操之過急，不高不攀，否則可能大家都失望。
(2)幫助孩子增強自信心
(3)關注孩子成績的變化(即名次的升降)而不是絕對名次
(4)溝通---多傾聽孩子的訴說
(5)多和老師尤其是班主任聯繫，及時了解情況，積極配合班主任和老師做好孩子的思想工作
只有有效的家校聯動(溝通與合作)，才能教育好學生。
(6)注重學生學習習慣和學習能力的培養，使學生養成良好的學習習慣

1)初一是基礎，希望這次考試成績不理想的學生家長要高度關注，儘快想法提高學生的成績，到了初二、初三要想提高就很難了，因為一方面學習任務越來越重，另一方面學生的自信心和興趣應儘早樹立(他們中有一部分人的自信心在國中已經受到打擊)

Sandstorm is a kind of bad weather witch is becoming increasingly common in Northwestern China, and it usually happens in spring and fall. Though I'm only 13, I have experienced it and suffered from it quite a lot.
I'm sure most people still remember the sandstorm that happened last month. It swept across the large area of 11 provinces and caused a great loss to our nation.
As you can see on TV, when a sandstorm comes, the wind blows strongly with dust and sand. Sometimes trees are even broken down in half, and little birds cannot find their homes. Sometimes clouds of dust blur the vision, and little kids cannot find their ways. It's like the end of the world.
When a sandstorm occurs, our classroom is filled with dust and sand. My poor teachers! They've breathed in enough chalk-powder. Now, they have to take in much dust. My poor fellow classmates! They told me they were almost dying.
We love beautiful spring. We cherish bright sunshine. But sandstorms destroy all the lovely things. Yet we know it is Mother Nature's revenge on what we have done to her. In order to see blue sky and sunny spring again, we should plant more trees and more grass to protect the environment. And it is not too late if we start right now.
Though it's a hard job to fight against the sandstorm, it is the battle we must fight, and it is a battle we must win!

Overusing the natural resources has already affected the ecological balance. However the factories still release the toxic air into the sky and the polluted water into the rivers. People still lack of the conscious of protecting the environment. I think it’s time for all of us to do something.
The government should put forward some more strict laws to prevent the environment from being further polluted. And they should let people know more about the importance of environment protection. And we should find the balance between the economic growth and environmental protection. Plant more trees in the deserts and stop cutting down the forest. Forbid the factories to pour the waste water into the rivers directly. Encourage people to use public transportations to work. Both government and ordinary people should join hands together to make our home clean and fresh again. Only in this way our earth could be a better place to live in.

I like to look into the mirror. I remember when I was a little girl, I often stood on my toes, trying to find my face in the mirror of the dressing table, which was nearly as high as I was. Now I still like to look into the mirror. Only now, the dressing table is too low for me. As I bend down, I see the face of a young woman, glowing with maturity, confident in her future and fascinated with her own reflection.
The fact that I like to look into the mirror has to do with my granny with whom I spent most of my childhood. I remember clearly that one night I heard her murmuring, "Women can't be seen. Women can't be seen." I was so confused as to look into the mirror the next morning to check if I could indeed see myself. Only now as a young woman myself, can I understand that it was not physical visibility that granny had on her mind.
Granny spent all her life taking care of the family, day in and day out. She cooked for her husband and 10 children. But whenever guests came, she and other female family members had to eat by the stove in the small kitchen. At family discussions, she was never asked for her opinion. After grandpa passed away, she had to listen to my uncle, her eldest son, fulfilled her duty as daughter, wife, and mother; yet as a person, she remained little noticed. Even though she could see herself in the mirror of the dressing table, she was never visible in the mirror of society.
I have been living a different life. At home, I make decisions together with the rest of the family. In school, I often take charge of various activities the same as other boys and girls. Not only that, I can see something granny could not have dreamed of─making decisions for my own future. My life has been a series of decisions. I could choose from several universities as I came out of high school. At university, I could choose from a range of subjects from English literature to business law. And now upon graduation, I am again faced with decisions─to further my study or to go to work; to stay in China or to go abroad; to get married right away or to remain single for a bit longer.
It does not matter whether or not I will become famous or rich, but I will treasure the chance to demonstrate my potential and to help other women demonstrate theirs as full members of society, fully visible in the mirror of history. I will treasure it because the abundance of choice that I enjoy came only after decades of efforts made by my granny, my mum, and millions of other Chinese women.
However, the choices to be made by me and others of my generation are a great challenge. The misconception that men are superior to women is still dominating many people's minds. While men are encouraged to compete and to assert themselves, we are expected to be quiet, loyal and obedient. This is not very different from what is expected of us as good wives and good mothers. The challenge we face calls for a higher level of our personal development and self-determination.
The story of my grandmother and myself mirrors the lives of millions of other women in China and perhaps in the world. Many of them still lead the life of my grandmother. Their worth is not yet recognized. It is the responsibility of a young person like me to work hard and struggle hard so that they too will see themselves and will be seen in the mirror of society.
This is my dream. This dream, I believe, is not only shared by our grandmothers, mothers and sisters, but also by many of our fathers, brothers, husbands and male colleagues.

親愛的同學們：
大家好，期中考試剛剛過去，經過這一段時間的學習，相信同學們已經查漏補缺，認識到了自己的不足。轉眼間，還剩下一個多月的學習時間，初一生活就將向我們揮手告別。我們要利用這一個多月的時間，把初一畫上一個完美的句號，為今後更加繁重的學習任務打下堅實的基礎。
對於絕大多數同學來說，英語始終是心頭大患。我與大家經歷相同，從4年級便被扣上了這頂帽子，每一次考試，英語總是給我拖後腿，但在一次次摸索中，我也在不斷進步，總結了一些經驗。正所謂“方向不對，努力白費”，正確的學習方法會使我們的學習效率大大提高，從而達到事半功倍的目的。下面是我總結的一些學習英語的經驗，希望可以供同學們參考。
第一，做好課堂筆記，顧名思義，課堂筆記便是利用課堂時間將老師所講的重點、難點、疑點記下，千萬不可以“手懶”，對於知識零碎的英語來說更是如此，好記性不如爛筆頭。然後是回顧筆記，回顧筆記才是做筆記的重點，建議大家，周末時專門抽出時間回顧一下當周所做的筆記，這樣能有效地緩解緊張的心理，可以讓你在下一周的學習中得心應手。舉個我自己的例子吧，記得有一次英語抽測，我抱著僥倖的心理，沒有做好複習工作，所以考試前就開始臨時抱佛腳，結果到了最後，根本沒有時間複習完，考試時慌慌張張，考得一塌糊塗。所以說，做好筆記對於學生來說十分重要。
第二，整理回顧錯題，對於很多同學來說，都能做到整理錯題，但重點是我們不僅僅要整理，更要回顧與反思。所謂“好馬不吃回頭草”對我們學生萬萬不可適用，要想成功擠過中考這座獨木橋，就必須回顧自己的錯題，也防止再出現類似的失誤。再舉個例子吧，我開始和很多同學一樣只是糾一下錯，之後就不管了，但是有一次考試，我真記得做過某一題，就是忘了怎么做，結果不僅沒做出題，心情也糟糕透頂，考試結果可想而知慘不忍睹，後來我學著經常回顧錯題本，慢慢地積累，厚積薄發，考試也不再出現類似的失誤。
第三，要利用零碎的時間。英語是一門需要長期積累的科目，知識點很多，一定要好好利用網際網路、學習機和其他移動方便的設備，更不用說書籍和雜誌這樣的傳統學習資源!你完全可以在課間、排隊、午休等時間記幾個單詞，要養成“天天英語”的習慣，每天按老師的要求作一篇完形閱讀，堅持天天聽英語。其實學英語的過程更像是一朵雲的形成，是水汽的一點點積累;而不像砌一面牆那樣，把磚堆上去就好。

尊敬的各位家長：
晚上好!今天，我很榮幸地在這裡，作為你們孩子的初一級英語老師，和你們共同探討一下“怎樣幫助孩子學好英語”，由於水平有限，在各位家長面前班門弄斧，不當之處，敬請批評指正。
如果你以前的英語沒有學好，那相對來說，你現在學得比較累;同樣地，如果你現在不學好英語，那將來的英語學習也是不難想像的。因為現在初一英語，如果有心的家長仔細看的話，會發現初一英語的辭彙量與語法是無法想像的。所以我們只有現在打好良好的基礎，才不會導致英語越學越難、越學越差。
這一班學生在英語方面是我剛剛接手的，每個學生學習情況我還在不斷的了解之中，其實在座的家長對自己子女的情況比我更加清楚。學生們都是在同一起跑線上起跑的，經過兩年來的學習，學生與學生之間已經拉開了差距。一些好的學生學習興趣濃，學習勁頭足，課堂上積極思維，踴躍發言，課後及時鞏固，形成了良性循環的好勢頭。他們的學習習慣好，在聽、說、讀、寫方面都能齊頭並進，我為他們感到欣慰。可也有一些學生，平時學習馬虎，基礎不紮實，功虧一簣，導致他們現在課上聽講出現困難，用他們自己的話說：“李老師上課，我聽不懂。”聽不懂，還不努力，書面作業拖拉不交，口頭作業根本不完成，如此一來，學習自然成了件頭痛事，麻煩事。其實，大部分的學生還是處於中間層次，老師所教的，所布置的作業能夠基本完成，但學習的效率又因人而異，存在著個體差別。儘管他們平時不需要老師操太多的心，費太大的力，但是說起各方面的表現，又總有一絲遺憾，我們總希望他們能夠再上一個台階。
怎樣幫助孩子學好英語呢?我們老師自然是最直接的知識傳授者，有著不可推卸的責任。在此，我們只是真誠地呼籲我們的家長配合學校，配合老師，靠我們共同的努力來幫助孩子學好英語。用一句時髦的話說：我們要和孩子共同成長。
重視良好的學習習慣的培養
(1)讓孩子多聽錄音在少兒英語教學中，首先是加強聽力訓練和說話訓練，然後才是讀寫能力的培養。聽說能力差，用英語進行交際的能力差，為此，家長一定要配合學校來要求孩子，要創造條件讓孩子多聽，多聽純正的錄音，聽幾遍、聽清楚了以後，跟著說。按照眼前利益來看，我們的升學考試也一年比一年注重聽力、閱讀等需要綜合能力的部分。比如前年的聽力占35分，去年就已經占40分了。
(2)讓孩子大聲說英語家長要每天留出15分鐘左右時間讓孩子讀讀英語，不管當天有無英語課。我們要鼓勵孩子大聲地朗讀、對話、問答，大聲說，不害羞，這樣有利於清楚地表達自己，也有利於他人糾正自己的錯誤。
(3)讓孩子熟練背誦課文和單詞背誦是一項基本功，可以積累一些日常用語，到用的時等候就可以脫口而出。但是在背誦過程中要講究方法，不可操之過急，要注意分散和集中相結合。我們一般是分段教課文，那就可以請學生分段背課文。等快教完的時候，再把課文串起來背，這樣可以降低一點難度，讓學生背得輕鬆些。但是在檢查過程中，我們發現有一部分學生背得相當熟練，可問他課文中的某個詞組或句子的意思時，他卻一問三不知。所以，我們在背誦過程中要注意上下文的理解，在理解的基礎上達到背誦的要求，課文中涉及到的相關詞組和句型，要讓學生熟記，並能用它們來造句、說話。
在具體的實施過程中發現：有些學生根本不用心學，能偷懶則偷懶，很多家長比較負責會查問有沒有教新課，要不要默寫，但孩子不老實，欺騙家長。這時候，你應該及時跟我聯繫，讓孩子知道：欺騙不是辦法，也會受到相應的懲罰。
單詞亦是如此，分散記憶、根據讀音記憶單詞都是可取的方法。有時，我們回家布置抄寫單詞，其目的不在於抄，而在於提醒學生記憶這些單詞。但是在日常學習中，學生不重視這項作業，認為只是抄抄而已，不做也沒什麼關係，其實他連抄寫都不做，根本別說是去背了，結果幾次下來，他負債累累，應付不過來，學習處於被動狀態，從而影響了以後的學習，出現退步現象。因此，請大家在家裡督促孩子保質保量地完成英語作業，該讀的讀、該說的說、該寫的寫、該記的記，及時鞏固，養成良好的習慣。父母親的良好榜樣起著很大作用。孩子一般還沒有明確的學習目的，這時，父母親對學習的態度，特別是行為，會極大地影響孩子。
在默寫單詞、詞組、課文的時候，有些會誘導父母：老師要求報英語，那家長就比較為難，一方面，自己根本不會讀英語;另一方面，也只能幫助他作弊了。
其實，我們對默寫的要求是這樣的：單詞、詞組是要求家長報中文，課文是要求學生自己熟背然後默寫的。千萬不能縱容自己的孩子第一次說：英語好難，我默不出來;就任由他去。你讓你的孩子知道：今天，你花大時間去養成好習慣，明天，你就可以更好。今天，你偷懶了一會，你明天的作業就會更多。累積下來，你就是欠債最多的人。孩子是每個家庭的重心和希望，有一位家長說過：“要把培養孩子當作自己的事業來做。”是啊，只要你多投入一點，相信你的孩子會給予你更多的回報!
