香菸是危害人體健康的一位溫柔的“殺手”，據媒體報導，吸菸的人容易得多種疾病，如肺炎、支氣管炎、心血管疾病等等，吸一包香菸相當於減少1小時的生命。
我看過爸爸20多歲時的照片，那時的她白白胖胖，臉色紅潤。可不知什麼時候起，爸爸每天都要吸一包煙。慢慢的，他的牙齒變黑了，手指變黃了，身上散發出一股難聞的煙味。我見了他，躲都來不及。我和媽媽幾次勸爸爸戒菸，可他卻說：“現在生活安定了，也該學著享受，再說，吸菸的男人有風度嘛！”雖說我們心裡不高興，但媽媽心軟，最後還是由著她。
過了不久，我發現爸爸開始咳嗽，那聲音越來越響了。先是輕輕的幾聲，然後是連續不斷的咳嗽。有時咳得臉發紅，連眼淚都流出來了。每天晚上，還沒看見他回家，就可以聽見他那刺耳的咳嗽聲了，那聲音聽起來像七八十歲的老人一樣蒼老。爸爸實在熬不過，就只好求助醫生。經過醫生診斷，發現爸爸得了氣管炎，這下，爸爸不得不下決心戒菸了。有時見爸爸實在忍不住了，我就把零食往他的嘴裡塞，這個辦法還真管用。
現在，爸爸長胖了，胃口開了，精神也飽滿起來了。爸爸也主動把原來用來吸菸的錢補貼家用，有時也給我買學習用品、玩具，給媽媽購買衣服、營養品。現在，我的家裡又充滿了歡聲笑語。
