英語寫作當中經常會用到“……很重要”這一句式，一般考生會用something be important/essential的辭彙表達。不過學了比較狀語從句以後，大家可以試著用一種更高級的表達方式，一定會讓閱卷老師眼前一亮，作文高分就不在話下啦。

上述句子可以概括為A is to B what C is to D.替換ABCD四個名詞就可以用來表達“重要性”這一概念。

★ 談讀書
Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.閱讀對於思想，好比運動對於身體一樣。

比較狀語(倍數表達法)：
A+ be+倍數+as many/much as+ B
A+ be+倍數+the amount+ B
A+ be+倍數+what it was+ B

1.通過指代關係合併簡單句為定語從句
【例句】
★ 故事發生於19世紀末期。那個時候，中國正遭受西方列強的蹂躪。
A: The story happened in the late 19th century.
B: At that time, China was suffering from the invasion of western powers.
→合併為定語從句：The story happened in the late 19th century when China was suffering from the invasion of western powers.
2.通過邏輯關係合併簡單句為狀語從句
【例句】
★ 這個問題很複雜。我們花了近兩周的時間才把它搞定。
A: The problem was very complicated.
B: It took us nearly two weeks to solve it.
→合併為結果狀語從句The problem was so complicated that it took us nearly two weeks to solve it.
