1.短語short for意思是“……是……的簡略形式”，或“……簡稱為……”，用be short for結構表達。
un is short for the united nations.
un是聯合國的縮略形式。
will is short for william.
威爾是威廉的簡稱。
把short for倒過來，for short意思是“簡略地”或“簡化地”，相當於副詞。如：
his name is james. we call him jim for short.
他的名字叫james。我們簡稱他為jim。
2.短語put away，意思很多，主要有以下用法。
(1)表示“把……收好、放好”，如：
put away the tools after work, will you?
工作結束後請把工具收拾好。
(2)表示“儲存”，如：
