ist(自由科學和技術)學院成立與1989年，是g. kastrinakis和d. fountoukakos的教育成員合併為svie(一所職業衛生健康學校)。svie在此衛生健康領域已有37年的專業培訓。自從成立後，ist學院的基本目標是為希臘的大學提供培訓。對於教育領域的貢獻，到目前為止，是國際公認的學術項目上起著領導作用。自從1992年，ist學院就與英國謝菲爾得大學有合作關係作為在希臘項目的傳送。
