一、 形似現在分詞的邊緣介詞
英語中，絕大多數類似動詞的邊緣介詞都為現在分詞形式，其中最為常見的有以下一些：
1.barring(不包括，如果沒有)：
barring special circumstances, the plane will arrive on schedule.
如無特殊情況，飛機將準時到達。
2.concerning(關於，就……來說)：
we had several discussions concerning the matter.
關於這事，我們已討論好幾次了。
3.considering(鑒於，就……而論)：
considering his age, he writes quite well.

4.excepting(除……之外)，該詞用於句首或not，without，always之後。

這類介詞為數不多，最常用的有以下幾個：

2.granted (that)(假定，即使)：
granted (或granting) that she should come to lend you a hand, it doesn't mean she will.
即使她應該來幫你一把，也並不意味著她會這樣做。
3.bar(除……之外)：
we'll come on time bar(或barring)traffic delay.
除非路上堵車，我們將準時到達。
4.save(除……之外)，此詞為正式用語。
the screen was all dark save for one bright spot.
除了一個光點之外，螢幕上一片黑暗。
