首先看看美國研究生申請中推薦信中常見的三個問題：
1、推薦信的長度：一封優秀的推薦信最好不要超過一頁;
2、推薦信的目的：推薦信，是推薦者對申請人的一個評價，與ps和簡歷等由申請人本人對自己情況的介紹不同，它以
第三人稱，一個旁觀者的角度來介紹所了解的申請人，能起到個人陳述所起不到的作用;
3、推薦信的內容：申請人與推薦人的關係、認識時間、申請人的長處與不足、申請人的關鍵品質和獨特個性等。
4、大家在寫推薦信時最易忽視的一些專業辭彙的問題，特別是一些關於被推薦人的品性介紹，下面就來看看寫推薦信時，必然會提及被推薦人的品性(characters)。介紹每個人獨特的個性用詞也十分講究，下列characters是國外大學所欣賞的：
