寫英文自我介紹，第一件事你必須認清自我，一定要弄清以下三個問題。你現在是乾什麼的?你將來要乾什麼?你過去是乾什麼的?
這三個問題不是按時間順序從過去到現在再到將來，而是從現在到將來再到過去。其奧妙在於：如果你被雇用，僱主選中的是現在的你，他希望利用的是將來的你，而這將來又基於你的歷史和現狀。
所以，第一個問題，你是乾什麼的?現在是乾什麼的?回答這個問題，要點是：你是你自己，不是別的什麼人。除非你把自己與別人區別開來，在共同點的基礎上更強調不同點，否則你絕無可能在眾多的應徵求職者中奪魁。 對於這第一個問題，自我反省越深，自我鑑定就越成功。
隨後，著手回答第二個問題：你將來要乾什麼?如果你申請的是一份舉足輕重的工作，僱主肯定很關注你對未來的自我設計。你的回答要具體，合理，並符合你現在的身份，要有一個更別致的風格。
然後，再著手回答最後一個問題：你過去是乾什麼的?你的過去當然都在履歷上已有反映。你在面試中再度回答這個問題時，不可忽略之處是：不要抖落一個與你的將來毫不相干的過去。如果你中途徹底改行，更要在描述你的執著、職業目標的一貫性上下些功夫。要做到這一點，又要忠實於事實和本人，最簡單的方法是：找到過去與將來的聯繫點，收集過去的資料，再按目標主次排列。
用這樣的方法，以現在為出發點，以將來為目標，以過去為證實，最重要的是加深了你的自我分析和理解。其實，在面試的時候不一定有機會或者有必要照搬你的大作，但這三個問題的內在聯繫點一定會體現在自我表述的整體感覺中，使你的形象栩栩如生。
