當我們每天迎著朝陽走向學校的時候，當我們看著五星紅旗在空中飄揚時，我們不會忘記，在中國近代歷史上，曾經有過一個百年噩夢。那是一段長達近百年的黑暗日子，在那段黑暗的日子裡，中華民族受盡了外族的欺凌;在那段黑暗的日子裡，中華兒女堅持抗爭，堅強不屈!
我們的國家如今是多么強大、多么輝煌啊!可是在從前，我們的國家卻是那樣的懦弱：南京大屠殺、圓明園的毀滅、南京條約的簽訂……這些都是國恥啊!這些都是別的國家對我們的輕視和欺負啊!每一次恥辱，都讓我們有極大的損失：南京大屠殺我們有30多萬同胞被殺害;圓明園的毀滅更讓我感到無比的憤怒，我們的祖先150多年的成就，是多少代人智慧的結晶啊!這建築藝術的精華，就在這么短的時間內被洗劫一空，還被一把大火燒得乾乾淨淨。如今的圓明園早己全無昔日風彩，叢生的荒草中，只有一兩根殘柱在寒風中孤立著，仿佛還在哭訴著無法抹去的傷痛……

罌粟花，一種美麗的植物。它原本並不邪惡，可它的果實卻被英國侵略者利用，製成了那讓人喪失自我，為它而傾家蕩產的毒藥——鴉片。
鴉片，這種毒藥不但危害了中華人民的身體健康，使大量資金流入海外，而且成為了中英兩國戰爭的導火索。在這段混亂的時光中，仍有明星在散發著自身的光芒。
在清政府的指派下，林則徐等人來到了廣州調查並解決鴉片問題。在林則徐的主持下，那年的7月7日，著名的虎門銷煙發生了。在那之後，雖然林則徐為了防衛英軍的進攻，加大了武裝的力度。但是，林則徐等人的這一舉動被小人指控為有意謀反。愚昧無知的清政府盲目地聽信了這一謊言，拆毀了大炮，將林則徐等人調離了廣州。釀成了鴉片戰爭的巨大失敗。

看!萬里長城像一條巨龍，臥在連綿起伏的崇山峻岭之間;聽!滔滔黃河水一浪接一浪，拍打著岸邊的岩石。望!崑崙山直插雲天，高不可攀。冰山上的雪蓮教會了我們純潔;海風中的乳燕教會了我們樂觀;黃河邊的山丹丹教會了我們熱烈。祖國有著錦繡的山川，可誰能想到，這美麗的國家，卻飽受了風霜，經歷過了千災萬難呢?
1860年10月6日，英法聯軍打入北京，而皇帝和慈禧卻逃之夭夭，只留下一座空城和手無寸鐵的百姓。殘暴的敵軍很快打入了圓明園，在對圓明園進行了一番搶劫後，又下令：火燒圓明園，理由竟是看園的大臣不讓他們進去搶奪東西。三四千名英軍在園內到處縱火，大火三晝夜不熄，煙雲籠罩北京城，久久不散。這座舉世無雙的園林傑作被一齊付之一炬。
當時在位的皇帝整天不務正業，把外國所謂的科技視為玩物喪志，可真正等敵人攻入國門時，卻手握落後的武器去防守，結局當然是——全軍覆沒，這樣的結果是意料之外的，也是情理中的：當時的清政府完全沒有想到，被他們視為“玩物喪志的東西竟有如此大的威力”，沒有想到我們和敵方的實力是那樣的懸殊。可當清政府明白時，一切卻顯的那樣不堪一擊。由於清政府的無能，皇帝及大多數官員的貪生怕死，與入侵者簽定了各種不平等條約，以此來換取太平生活。
歷史是不可改變的，但我們手中可以把握未來，使這段悲劇不再重新上演。
