今天是7月6日國際接吻日，
又稱世界接吻日(international kissing day)
這個節日首先由英國人發起，
二十年前得到聯合國的批准。

接吻的歷史始於大約公元前302024年，古人們在膜拜眾神時都要親吻他們。古羅馬時期，不僅與朋友和家庭成員接吻，還要與商人和路人接吻，以此表示對他們的歡迎。中世紀這種見面禮不僅要受到人際關係的約束，還要受到社會階層的約束。社會地位越低，親吻距離臉部就越遠。對於與自己地位相等的人吻嘴唇，比自己地位高一等的人要吻手，再者則要吻其膝蓋，對於自己在其面前微不足道的人(首先是指神職人員)要吻其腳背，甚至他腳邊的土地。在義大利，男人一定要娶當眾親吻的姑娘為妻。
