Dear Mother,

Then he looked at my throat and checked my pulse rate. After that he told me there was nothing serious. He asked me to have a few days rest and drink more water. At last he gave me some medicine. 【寫法指要】
1）這是女兒給母親寫的一封信。信的內容是根據上述對話中Jane找Doctor看病的經過寫的。所以，信文實際上是一篇過程說明文（process analysis essay）。過程說明文最顯著的特點就是用表示時間先後順序的銜接詞語連貫全文，如本文中的“at first”，“then”，“after that”，“at last”就是這樣的詞語。
2）把對話改寫成短文時，最重要的一點就是把直接引語變成間接引語。這時，就要注意正確使用如文中的“I told him (that)…”，“The doctor thought (that)…”，“…he told me (that)…”，“He asked me to…”等具有轉述功能的句型。此外，還須注意人稱代詞、指示詞、時間或地點副詞的轉換和套用。
