英漢語中某些顏色的詞語，在平時的運用中其客觀色彩意義已經淡化，而常用來表示不同的喻義。我們應當注意這類英漢詞語的異同之外，還應注意這類顏色詞不能直譯，所以當我們使用這些辭彙時，應特別留意其涵義及翻譯，才能達到正確動用之目的。
一、white
1) 英語中的“white”其涵義可表示純潔、美好、善意、合法、公平、幸福、輕輕的、政治上反動等，如：

white list 白名單(指守法人士、合法機構等)

2) 在漢語中“褐”可表示粗布或粗布衣服，但它卻很少與其它詞語搭配構成新詞。
當我們使用這類詞時應很好地領會其涵義。斟酌其用法，切莫望之生意。
綜上所述，我們不難看出顏色詞使用廣泛，除了其色彩意義外，還有許多抽象的象徵意義，就其象徵意義而言，英漢顏色詞有不少相同之處，但不同之處更多，同時可以看出，這類詞語所表達的文化內涵皆與本國的社會文化思想息息相關。因此，探究這類詞語對於豐富語言知識、正確運用各類辭彙大有益處。
