b:大家好,今天是10月31日,是萬聖節,又叫鬼節,萬聖節定在在每年的10月31日,是英語國家的傳統節日,主要流行於北美、不列顛群島、澳大利亞、加拿大和紐西蘭。

兩千多年前,歐洲的天主教會把11月1日定為“天下聖徒之日”。傳說自公元前五百年,居住在愛爾蘭、蘇格聯蘭等地的凱爾特人把這節日往前移了一天,即10月31日。他們認為該日是夏天正式結束的日子,也就是嚴酷的冬季開始的一天。那時人們相信,故人的亡魂會在這一天回到故居地在活人身上找尋生靈,藉此再生,而且這是人在死後能獲得再生的唯一希望。而活著的人則懼怕死魂來奪生,於是人們就在這一天熄掉爐火、燭光,讓死魂無法找尋活人,又把自己打扮成妖魔鬼怪把死人之魂靈嚇走。之後,他們又會把火種燭光重新燃起,開始新的一年的生活。

傑克燈是萬聖夜最廣為人知的象徵物。在英國和愛爾蘭,當地人原本在挖空的蕪菁中燃點蠟燭造成傑克燈,但移民到美國的人很快便採用南瓜代替,因為南瓜比較大和容易在上面雕刻圖案。不少家庭在南瓜上刻上嚇人的面容,並放在大門口的階級上,傳統上此做法是想嚇走惡魔或妖怪。
