Study skills: Writing

In this talk a teacher gives advice to students about writing compositions.

The important point to remember is that everyone can learn to write well.

When you have to write a composition, the first thing to do is write down all your ideas as quickly as possible. If the ideas don’t come to you quickly try asking yourself some questions: When? Where? Who? What? Why? If you can talk over your ideas with a partner. You can do this in English or Chinese’, it doesn’t matter.

Next, see which of the ideas are connected, and put them in the best order. At this stage, cross out any ideas which don’t fit in. You will always have more than enough ideas for your composition.

Some students think that you have to write a long introduction at the beginning of your composition. In fact, this isn’t necessary. Time is short.

Now check the plan for your composition. Is it too long or too short? Do you need more information? If so, you may need to go to your school library. Do you need more examples to make your ideas clear? It is more interesting for your reader if you can introduce examples to show what you mean.

〈目標英語 》設計了大量的聽說材料,而現在這些聽力材料正成為學生學習過程中的一個難點。那么,我們如何改變現狀呢? 

1、首先進行大量的聽說訓練。“聽”是對輸入信息的“加工”,“說”是表達,是“輸出”,沒有輸入就沒有輸出。在聽懂的基礎上說,在說的同時增強聽的能力,使兩者有機結合,相互促進。聽說訓練包括聽音答問、聽後複述、聽後解釋和聽後辯論等。而國中側重聽音答問和聽後複述。 

2、接著進行聽寫訓練 。有意識地安排聽寫一些音相近的單詞,一些含有同化、強弱讀、連讀、失去爆破或包含否定的句子;聽寫有數字、人名、地名、年齡、尺碼的對話和短文。聽音畫勾或打圈,聽音選圖,聽音標號或排序以強化學生的記憶力。 

3、注重聽讀訓練 。即聽完一兩遍錄音後,讓學生進行模仿跟讀。心理學研究表明,青少年在發音、動作、習慣方面的模仿能力極強。學生在跟讀時,仔細揣摩句子的重讀、弱讀、失爆規則從而掌握一些朗讀技巧。同時朗讀對培養學生對語言的感覺提高對語言的感悟力有著極其重要的作用。 

4、培養良好的聽說習慣。

鄉下很熟的一個小孩子,常見到她。很少說話,皮蛋老師見到她問十句也會說上二、三句。 有時覺得最難過的事是什麼? 就是一個孩子的命運已事先就可以預見,沒有什麼希望。這個小女孩子就是這樣,父母在外地打工,相依為命的外婆耳聾,時不時回家的小舅舅也是耳聾,而最有能力的外公在外面傳銷(賺了幾次錢然後就給傳銷送了幾次錢)。媽 媽也是耳聾,孩子爸爸是因為偏遠家窮招郎上門。 小女孩子有的親近的人的文化水平都沒國小畢業。這些都還是次要的,最為讓人傷心的是,因為遺傳,小女孩子的聽力會慢慢減弱,最後像她媽 媽一樣。


  小女孩為什麼沉默寡言?原因很明顯,沒人聽她說話。據她說學校的老師也很兇,打人罵人(沒耐心的老師都這樣,有人總認為是老師沒愛心,其實與愛心無關,一般人都是有愛心的)。  皮蛋老師在猶豫xx學校要不要免費收這個小女孩子,和老師們商量再說。

 

 


  實際上,我們換個角度來看問題。有些父母或外婆或爺爺聽力是正常的,但其實他們卻像這個女孩的外婆一樣,接收不到孩子的信息。時間久了,孩子就會患上“無助感”,最後孩子放棄正常的交流。對於一個低齡的孩子,這是多么悲慘的一個環境,只是比孤兒院好一些罷了。


  做父母的,耐心地傾聽(傾聽意味著同理心,不僅是聽到聲音,而要聽到孩子的內心;這裡的聽不是狹窄意義上的聽。)孩子,不要做一個正常聽力的卻接收不到孩子信息的“聾子”。

聽力指導

在初四英語教學中,發現聽力對於大多數的中等層次學生來說是一個枯燥且難度較大的問題。聽力測試位於中考測試的第一部分,如果在這部分發揮正常的話就可以穩定考生的應試情緒,保證他們在聽力理解後面的測試題中發揮自己的最佳水平,從而讓整體成績的提高得到保證。但在做日常測試時,我注意到,很多學生不懂得預先看題,更有甚者不等錄音放完,就不假思索地把聽力部分的問題回答完畢,他們的這種做法使我感到很吃驚。所以,就如何提高中等層次學生的聽力就成為我日益關注的問題。 
通過對學生聽力現狀的全面分析,認為他們基本能聽懂單句和沒有太大難度的對話,但對短文的理解支離破碎,只能聽懂短文中的部分文段,不能從整體理解短文的意思。另外,由於學生們除了初一、初二上聽力課時聽一些英語磁帶之外,聽力訓練很少,掌握的聽力技巧極為有限,也逐漸失去了學習英語聽力的興趣和信心。
為此,我採取了一些具有針對性的教學方法。一開始,我對學生的要求高,走了一些彎路。當時學生的聽力還比較差,讓他們去聽一些難度較大或枯燥乏味的聽力材料,可能沒有堅持一兩天,他們的自信心恐怕早就被擊得粉碎。因此,為學生挑選難度適宜的聽力材料就顯得尤為重要。經過不斷地探索和實踐,我改進了自己的教學方法,使之更具科學性。首先,我幫助學生培養信心,引發他們的對聽力的興趣。在對學生聽力培養的過程中,我很重視聽力材料的選擇,由淺入深,由易到難,儘量挑一些趣味性較強的短文,再加上聽力技能技巧的輔導與訓練,並伴以模仿,跟讀,複述,講評等方法。同時給學生們總結出方法步驟:①利用放錄音前的間隙,搜尋ABCD四個選項中復現率較高的辭彙,分析其內在的邏輯關係,猜測可能的聽音內容;②預想提問方式及內容,想像正確答案;③放第一、二遍錄音時,仔細聽錄音,修正自己的預測,做出正確的判斷;④放第三遍錄音時,則肯定並檢查自己的答案。
在學生們漸漸在聽力訓練中感受到英語語言的幽默和享受成功的喜悅時,他們的成績也在逐漸地提高。中等層次學生普遍反映,運用這些方法使他們能較為準確地理解和回答英語考試中聽力測試部分的問題,從而使聽力能力上了一個台階。在聽力能力的進一步提高上,鍾道隆先生的《逆向法巧學英語》中的方法給了我很大程度的啟迪,嘗試讓一些對英語比較感興趣並且成績在班裡中上的學生,在課餘時間把英語聽力材料一字不漏地聽寫下來,從中摸索英語聽力的規律,然後我單獨幫他們當面批作業,並給予一定的指導。他們的聽力水平在原有的基礎上提高得更為顯著。這也說明了我所採取的針對性教學是有成效的。
